What Should a Nail Salon Put on a Loyalty Card?

Not sure what to put on a nail salon loyalty card? Here are practical stamp targets, reward ideas and programme examples for nail salons and independent nail technicians.

A nail salon loyalty card should do more than say 'collect ten stamps and get something free'. It should give clients a clear reason to keep choosing you while protecting the value of your appointment time.

The best programme depends on how often clients visit, what they normally spend and which extras or services have high value to the client without consuming a full free appointment.

Start with the stamp rule

Keep the earning rule easy to explain. One stamp per completed qualifying appointment is usually the simplest option for a nail business.

If services vary dramatically in price, you can limit the programme to selected appointments or define a minimum qualifying spend. Avoid creating a rule your clients or team need to calculate every time.

How many stamps should a nail loyalty card have?

For a client who returns every three or four weeks, a reward after around five or six visits can feel much more immediate than waiting for ten. A smaller milestone can also be added earlier if the final reward is deliberately larger.

There is no magic number. The target should be long enough to reward genuine repeat behaviour but short enough that a regular client believes they will actually reach it.

Reward ideas that fit nail businesses

Good options include a nail-art upgrade, selected add-on, treatment upgrade, fixed credit towards the next appointment, a take-home nail-care product or an introduction to another service you offer.

These can feel substantial to the client without automatically giving away the complete appointment they would otherwise have paid for.

Three example nail salon loyalty programmes

Simple regular-client card

Earn one stamp per qualifying nail appointment. After six stamps, receive £10 credit towards the next qualifying appointment.

Upgrade-based card

Earn one stamp per appointment. After five stamps, receive a complimentary nail-art or treatment upgrade with the next eligible booking.

Milestone card

Earn one stamp per appointment. Offer a small reward at three stamps and a stronger reward at six, giving the client something to look forward to before the end of the card.

Use rewards to introduce other services

If you offer brows, lashes, pedicures, skincare or retail products alongside nails, loyalty can help clients try something they have not bought before.

For example, a regular manicure client could earn a complimentary upgrade or credit towards a pedicure. The reward still feels generous, but it also introduces a potential future revenue stream.

Keep the wording painfully clear

Tell clients exactly what earns a stamp, how many they need and what the reward includes. If there are restrictions, keep them short and visible.

A nail loyalty card should feel like a little progress bar towards something enjoyable—not a set of terms and conditions.
